Information and how to apply for Apprenticeships at Schenker Ltd

Apprenticeships here at Schenker Ltd combine competency based a 30-month study with hands on work projects to provide valuable experience as well as knowledge of structure, activity and work processes of the departments the employee is in. Apprentices move round various roles and departments of a branch's operation giving a varied knowledge and experienced apprenticeship opportunity.

Schenker Ltd runs apprenticeships in partnership with Talent Training UK LLP to provide extensive training, business administration and customer service qualifications and once completed, apprentices will have gained a full appreciation of the DB Schenker organisation. 

Apprenticeships 2010/2011 at Schenker Ltd

Apprentices will be paid a competitive starting salary and will be entitled to 20 days holiday, plus statutory holidays and will also be eligible for a discretionary performance related bonus scheme. The aim at the end of the programme is to place apprentices into full time permanent positions within the organisation, though this is not guaranteed and is based upon satisfactory performance throughout the Apprenticeship programme and business needs.

Each apprentice will be required to complete two Apprenticeship Frameworks as part of the programme. This includes Business Administration and Customer Services. It will also consist of regular attendance at internal training courses giving an opportunity to bring all apprentices together helping them understand other are of the DB Schenker Organisation, as well as completion of a business improvement project.                        

Applicants should be aged between 16 – 18 years should possess the following qualifications/experience/qualities:

  • Good levels of numeracy and literacy – GCSE grade C or above in Maths and English
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • A desire to learn and commit to their future career development
  • Some work experience – gained either through part-time/holiday work or through school placement
  • Reliability, flexibility and a positive attitude
