Far East Westbound Update
Here you find the latest updates on capacity, rates and outlook.
Far East Westbound March-April 2012
Despite all logic of supply and demand the new carrier alliances have been able to reduce or limit space/capacity to such an extent that we are now faced with full, or virtually full, vessels and as a consequence, the GRI of $700 per teu (average) has stuck, with a further increase of $400 per teu expected in April.
It would seem that most carriers are confident that with the present space situation they will see this increase accepted in the market.
Further increases are sought by carriers with a further increase in the region of $300/$400 from May.
We also remind customers that the changed Carrier Alliances have meant that carrier loops have changed and could have adverse effect on their transit times so please check with your local branch.
